‘Aging in Place, Your Way, Safely in Your Own Home’ topic at panel event in Solana Beach

A panel discussion led by three San Diego agency leaders will speak on how their agencies can help seniors stay safe and functional in their own homes on Tuesday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. The presentation will take place at the Solana Beach Library, located at 157 Stevens Avenue, Solana Beach. The event is co-sponsored by Solana Beach Community Connections (SBCC) and the Friends of the Solana Beach Library.
Guest panelists include PACE, a federal program for lower income seniors. with its goal to keep seniors in their homes instead of going to a nursing home. Home Instead, a national organization, provides the same services as PACE but at a cost. It’s for seniors who do not qualify for Medi-Cal. They offer case management for families who don’t have family to supervise their elderly. YANA, “You’re Not Alone,” works through the County Sheriff’s Department. Once signed up, they call seniors daily to check on them. They send someone out to check if a call is not answered after three calls.
