Steak ‘n Shake is offering customers another payment option, as it will start accepting bitcoin.
Beginning Friday, May 16, Steak ‘n Shake’s 393 U.S locations will accept this form of cryptocurrency payment, joining a handful of other fast-food chain restaurants, including Subway and Chipotle, in this burgeoning space.
Steak ‘n Shake CEO Dan Edwards said in a statement to Cointelegraph, “Our goal is to utilize bitcoin at all locations, including all international units. Each country will announce its own launch date.”
The fast-food chain made the announcement of its Bitcoin embrace with a social media post, saying, “The movement is just beginning,” and signing off as “steakoshi” in reference to bitcoin’s anonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
