Jennie continues to carve out her own space in American pop music history week after week – and she does so again this chart frame. The Blackpink superstar sees her solo single “Like Jennie” arrive on a highly competitive Billboard radio ranking, and in doing so, she moves past several familiar faces to claim another impressive milestone and keeps promotion of her solo album Ruby going.
“Like Jennie” Debuts on the Pop Airplay Chart
“Like Jennie” opens at No. 40 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart this week, sneaking onto the roster in the final spot. It’s a humbling start, but appearing on this particular ranking at all is a real win for any K-pop act. The Pop Airplay tally measures the most-played tracks on top 40 stations across the U.S., and competition is always especially fierce.
Jennie Claims a Third Solo Hit on the Pop Radio Chart
With “Like Jennie,” Jennie claims her third solo entry on the Pop Airplay tally. That gives her one of the largest accumulations of hits among all K-pop acts pursuing careers without a group to lean on. Among solo female K-pop stars, it’s a really big deal, as only a select few artists who fit that description have managed more than one appearance, and even fewer have scored three.
Jennie Moves Past Rosé to Stand Alone
Until last week, Jennie was tied with her Blackpink bandmate Rosé when it came to solo hits on the Pop Airplay chart. Both singers had two wins apiece, standing side-by-side behind one other major name. Now, Jennie moves ahead of Rosé by securing her third entry, pushing her into sole possession of second place among solo female K-pop acts on the radio ranking.
Blackpink’s Lisa Remains in the Lead
While Jennie has pushed past Rosé, she still trails another Blackpink member. Lisa currently leads the pack among solo female K-pop artists, with four Pop Airplay hits to her credit. Lisa recently added her fourth winner, keeping her at the top for now.
