Pakistan to Power Bitcoin & AI Data Centre with 2,000 MW Surplus Electricity

Pakistan will allocate 2,000 megawatts of electricity to power a Bitcoin and AI data centre in the first phase of a national initiative, the Finance Ministry announced Sunday. The rapid expansion of solar energy has caused complications, pushing consumers toward alternative energy sources to manage high ’s energy sector faces challenges like high tariffs and surplus capacity. This allocation aims to utilize surplus electricity for Bitcoin mining and an AI data centre.
