The Princess Bride: See a film and a live symphony at the same time at “The Princess Bride” in Concert. The San Diego Symphony Orchestra will perform the entire film score as the movie is being played on a giant screen on stage. “The Princess Bride” stars Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Billy Crystal and André the Giant. The film is a romantic fairy tale that revolves around a young woman named Buttercup and a young farmhand named Westley. 7:30 p.m. Friday. Bankers Hill Art & Craft Beer Festival: Art and beer collide at the second annual Bankers Hill Art & Craft Beer Festival. Some of the featured art will include sculptures by Benjamin Lavender, paintings by Eric Wixon and Pieces of Payne with garden art and mixed media wall art. Over 15 local craft beer companies and restaurants are offering unlimited food samples and 10, four-ounce pours of craft beer to ticketed guests. San Diego Civic Youth Ballet presents ‘The Firebird’: Based on a Russian fairytale, the principal roles in this production include a prince and princess, an evil immortal who captures the princess and the magical Firebird, who saves the day. ‘Ain’t Too Proud’ tour returns next week for three-day visit: Broadway San Diego presents a brief return engagement of the musical “Ain’t Too Proud — The Life and Times of The Temptations” next week. The musical, inspired by the real-life music, ups and downs of the Motown men’s vocal group, last playsed in San Diego in 2023. 8 p.m. March 28; 2 and 8 p.m. March 29; 1 and 6:30 p.m. March 30. Sawyer Hill: Alternative rock with a progressive twist musician Sawyer Hill is performing at Quartyard. His newest album titled “Heartbreak Hysteria” is set to be released on April 18. Hill started performing in public at the age of 15 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In February 2024 his song “Look at the Time” charted on Spotify’s Viral 50. Paul Oakenfold: Award-winning English record producer and remixer Paul Oakenfold is taking over the decks at Music Box. Oakenfold was named best DJ in the world in 1998 and 1999 by DJ Magazine. In 2002, he won the BMI Film Music Award for his work on the 2001 film “Swordfish.” Oakenfold has worked with various artists such as Madonna, U2, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson. will be the night’s opening act. 8 p.m. Friday. Poncho Sanchez: Grammy Award-winning percussionist, conguero and bandleader Poncho Sanchez recorded a live performance at the Belly Up in 2023. That performance was turned into a new album, which is being celebrated with a release concert at the Belly Up. The album, titled “Live at the Belly Up Tavern,” was recorded with his Latin jazz band. It showcases 10 new songs and is Sanchez’s 31st album release of his career. In 1999, Sanchez won a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Performance for “Latin Soul.” Over the years, the Laredo, Texas-born artist has paid tribute to mentors and pioneers in music, including a collaboration with trumpeter Terence Blanchard honoring Afro-Cuban music and artists Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo. 7 p.m. Saturday. Chili cookoff fundraiser: The public can enjoy some chili and help local groups at the Lemon Grove Lions and Lemon Grove Forward Club’s Chili Cookoff Fundraiser. The event features a chili-tasting contest, where participants vote for the best, along with music, a raffle, silent auction and a cash bar. The Price is Right Live: Come on down San Diego, you could be the next contestant on “The Price is Right” Live. ‘Once On This Island’ opens in Oceanside: Oceanside Theatre Company presents the Lynn Ahrens/Stephen Flaherty musical inspired by the Little Mermaid about a poor girl named Ti Moune who falls in love with a boy from the wealthy side of their Caribbean island. Comedian Nick Swardson: Get ready for the comedic styling of Nick Swardson, as he brings his show to The Magnolia. Swardson is an actor, producer, screenwriter and stand-up comedian. He is known for his character Terry Bernadino in the television series “Reno 911!” The Minneapolis native has also worked with Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison’s productions. Swardson’s comedy show normally centers around “his incredibly drunk nights out and the magical realizations which are reached when blasted out of your mind,” according to San Diego Theater. 6 p.m. Saturday. “San Diego, I Love You: City Heights”: Long-dormant Circle Circle dot dot theater company has returned with a new version of its site-specific walking adventure play series, this time set in the community of City Heights. This edition, written by Soraya Rowley, will be a romantic comedy where audience members are encouraged to buy drinks at two of the locations visited during the play, Tower Bar and Key & Cleaver. 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Elmo’s Eggstravaganza: Sesame Place San Diego is celebrating Easter with over three weeks of limited-time, family-fun activities. Ron Currie author event: San Diego’s The Book Catapult shop, will host a Q&A between this Maine-based novelist and local author Jim Ruland. Currie’s 2007 novel “Everything Matters!” is a particular favorite of Book Catapult co-owner Seth Marko and he says “Babs Dionne” is just as excellent. It’s the story of Babs, a doting grandma and matriarch of an all-female crime gang in a small Maine town who run afoul of a vengeful regional drug kingpin. 6-8 p.m. Sunday. 3010-B Juniper St., San Diego.
